Nigeria: 1 Killed As Truck Loses Control On FCT Road
A truck assistant died in a crash involving a runaway truck in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, which also led to another accident nearby.
In a tragic incident in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, a truck assistant, referred to as a motor boy, lost his life when the truck he was in lost control and overturned near the prominent Tipper Garage junction along the Dutse-Bwari Highway. Eyewitness, Ose Idasho, indicated that the truck was navigating from the Usuma Dam area when it veered off the road, ultimately landing upon the assistant driver, who was killed instantly.
Following the crash, the runaway truck also impacted two additional vehicles before coming to a complete stop. The Federal Capital Territory Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Felix Theman, was on site to confirm the details of the accident. He clarified the severity of the situation, noting that while the first accident sadly resulted in a fatality, there was an additional accident reported at the Saukale roundabout nearby, but fortunately, there were no casualties in this second incident.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in Nigeria, especially within the densely populated areas of the Federal Capital Territory.
