Namibia: Record Production At B2gold As Open Pit Winds Down

B2Gold's Otjikoto Mine in Namibia achieved significant gold production in 2025, generating record revenue for the company.

In 2025, B2Gold's Otjikoto Mine in Namibia reported remarkable production figures, yielding 199,139 ounces of gold, which falls within the upper bounds of its production guidance. This output has notably contributed to the company's record annual revenue of US$3.06 billion, equivalent to approximately N$60 billion. The chief executive of B2Gold, Clive Johnson, highlighted the strong performances across multiple mines, including Fekola and Masbate, indicating the company's robustness in production despite the challenges faced in mining operations.

As part of its strategic planning, B2Gold allocated US$7 million towards exploration at the Otjikoto Mine in the previous year, predominantly focused on the Antelope deposit located near the Otjikoto open pit. A comprehensive drilling program is in place, aimed at exploring the potential of the Antelope deposit's three zones, including the Springbok Zone and Oryx Zone, with a substantial total of 39,000 meters of drilling planned. This exploration initiative demonstrates B2Gold’s commitment to sustaining and potentially increasing its gold output in the coming years.

The implications of this production success extend beyond the company's financial health; they also signal a positive economic impact for Namibia by contributing to the local economy through job creation and infrastructure development associated with mining activities. Moreover, the proficiency displayed in managing output during the winding down of open pit operations reflects B2Gold's adaptability and commitment to sustaining its operational excellence.
