The Uganda Prisons Service expressed sorrow over the loss of Assistant Superintendent Hope Catherine, Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright, and Sarah Ayebare, the wife of the Officer-in-Charge, who were all victims of the gunfire unleashed by a warder named Moses Anguyo. The shooting occurred around 10 am and left the local community in shock as it unfolded within a secure environment meant to maintain order and safety.
Immediately after the incident, security measures were heightened at Kiboga Prison, and the police were alerted to the scene. Law enforcement officials are currently engaging in joint operations to capture Warder Anguyo, who fled after opening fire and is now considered a dangerous individual. The police have already recovered the weapon used in the attack, along with 15 rounds of ammunition, illustrating the severity of the situation and the potential risks posed by the escaped warder.
