Car Museum in São Roque Receives the Largest Collection of Microcars in Brazil

The Dream Car Museum in São Roque, Brazil, has inaugurated the largest permanent collection of microcars in the country, showcasing 23 rare vehicles.

The Dream Car Museum in São Roque, Brazil, has launched a new exhibit titled 'The World of Microcars – Small in Size, Giant in History', featuring an impressive collection of 23 rare microcars manufactured between 1949 and 1991. This exhibition marks the museum's dedication to preserving the history of these unique vehicles, which were often seen as creative and accessible solutions for mobility in the post-war era.

Of the 23 vehicles displayed, 15 were recently added to the museum's collection from Bento Gonçalves, highlighting a significant expansion of its offerings. The remaining eight vehicles were already part of the original collection. The featured microcars include notable models such as the American Crosley Hotshot Convertible (1949), the French Biscuter Voisin 200 R (1957), the three-wheeled English Bond Minicar 250G (1963), the Velorex 350/16 from the now-defunct Czechoslovakia (1966), and the Subaru 360 (1971), which is recognized as the first car produced by the Japanese automaker Subaru.

Microcars hold a unique place in automotive history, particularly in Europe after World War II where they emerged as economical and space-efficient alternatives to traditional automobiles. The exhibit not only showcases these models from a bygone era but also emphasizes their significance in the evolution of transportation. By hosting this collection, the Dream Car Museum contributes to the appreciation and understanding of microcars and their impact on automotive design and urban mobility.
