Gurdaspur Shootout: Pakistani Gangster Released a Video, Shot ASI at Point-Blank Range
A shootout in Gurdaspur, Punjab, resulted in the deaths of two policemen, followed by a controversial video released by a Pakistani gangster claiming responsibility for the attack.
On Sunday, Gurdaspur district in Punjab was shaken by the shooting deaths of two policemen stationed at a border check post near the India-Pakistan border. The incident occurred just hours before a video was released by Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti, showing an unknown shooter firing at a police officer from a very close range. The video sparked concerns due to its sharing by a group called 'Tehrik-e-Taliban Hindustan' (TTH), which also claimed responsibility for the double homicide, raising alarms about cross-border crime and potential terrorist connections.
The violent incident came to light when Kamaljeet Singh, the village sarpanch of Adhiyan, reported that a local police official was not responding to calls. Upon reaching the check post at around 8:15 AM, he discovered a horrific scene where the two policemen were found dead. The area is located just two kilometers from the international border, enhancing the severity of the situation as it suggests a growing nexus between local criminals and terrorist groups across the border.
Currently, the Punjab Police are refraining from making any official comments regarding the authenticity of the video while investigations continue. The emergence of such footage and claims by the TTH only heightens security concerns in the region, as the police grapple with an increase in violence related to organized crime and terrorism, indicating the need for enhanced border security measures and a comprehensive strategy to combat these threats.
