The Disturbance Caused an Incredible Scene on an HSL Bus
A drunken man attempted to take control of the driver's seat on an HSL bus, causing discomfort among passengers.
On Monday afternoon, passengers traveling from Espoo to Helsinki witnessed a shocking incident aboard an HSL bus. A drunk man attempted to climb into the driver's seat while the bus was in motion. As seen in a video captured by a passenger, the man, dressed in black sweatpants, managed to pull himself up near the driver's area, crawling towards the seat. This escalated the situation, prompting several passengers to rise and exit the bus, likely sensing the escalation of the disturbance.
The incident occurred on bus number 200, which was headed towards Elielinaukio. According to Johannes Laitila from HSL's communications department, the bus had stopped at the Karakallio center stop in Espoo when the driver intervened with a group of unruly passengers. As the driver was trying to remove the disruptive individuals from the bus, one member of the group attempted to take control of the driver's seat. However, he was unable to reach it since the area was locked and secured with a plexiglass barrier.
Ultimately, the driver successfully removed the intoxicated passengers from the vehicle, but not before they exited amidst shouting and commotion. This incident raises concerns about passenger safety on public transport, highlighting the potential risks drivers face when dealing with intoxicated individuals. It also prompts discussions on measures that could be implemented to enhance security on public transport services in Finland.
