Alpine skiing champion Lindsey Vonn announced on her Instagram account that she has been discharged from the hospital following a serious injury sustained during the downhill skiing competition at the Olympics in Italy on February 8. The 41-year-old athlete suffered fractures to her shin and fibula, which necessitated several surgeries, and she spent nearly two weeks in the hospital. The initial four operations took place in Italy, with the final one conducted in the United States.

In a video shared with her followers, Vonn described this injury as the most painful and challenging experience of her life. She expressed her gratitude towards the medical team, particularly a doctor she credited with saving her life and helping her avoid an amputation of her leg. Furthermore, Vonn revealed that she also suffered from compartment syndrome, a condition that can reduce blood flow in the injured leg and lead to severe nerve and muscle issues.

While Vonn has been released from the hospital, she has not yet returned home and is currently staying at a hotel. She faces a long and arduous rehabilitation process ahead.
