Intense rainfall has battered São Paulo's coastal area since Saturday, resulting in widespread destruction across several cities in the Baixada Santista region. There have been numerous reports of flooding and fallen trees, with the city of Peruíbe facing the brunt of the storm. Reports indicate that more than 100 people have been displaced due to the severe weather, and classes have been suspended in certain municipalities. In response to these challenges, the State Civil Defense has established a Crisis Cabinet to monitor the situation across the coastal areas of São Paulo.

Five cities within the Baixada Santista region have been identified as significantly impacted by the heavy rainfall. The State Civil Defense reported substantial rainfall accumulations over just one night, with Peruíbe receiving the highest amount at 185mm, followed by Bertioga, Ubatuba, Itanhaém, Praia Grande, and Guarujá. The statistics underscore the severity of the downpour and its resultant challenges, highlighting the urgent need for disaster management and community support.

As authorities assess the damages and work to alleviate the ongoing crises, the situation remains precarious. Evacuations have occurred, and local emergency services are actively managing the fallout from the storm. With schools closed and residents displaced, the local government faces pressing demands to restore normalcy in the affected areas and ensure the safety of the citizens as additional rain is forecasted in the coming days.
