Northern Region States Record Highest Incidence of Vulnerable Rape in 2025
The Northern states of Brazil have reported the highest rates of vulnerable rape incidents in 2025, according to data from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
In 2025, Brazil's Northern region states showed alarmingly high rates of vulnerable rape, with Roraima leading at a rate of 73.09 incidents per 100,000 inhabitants. This region includes Rondônia, Amapá, Pará, and Acre, all of which follow closely behind in the rankings. The data reveals that a significant portion of the total rape cases in Brazil is categorized as vulnerable rape, indicating a troubling trend that continues to escalate in these areas.
The report, compiled by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, indicates that two-thirds of all rape incidents reported in Brazil for the previous year were classified as vulnerable, amounting to over 57,000 occurrences out of a total of around 80,600. The definition of vulnerable rape includes acts involving minors under 14 years old or individuals unable to provide consent due to illness or intellectual disabilities. This grave situation highlights systemic issues in the protection of vulnerable populations in the country.
As these statistics reveal a persistent increase in vulnerable rape incidents, there is a pressing need for interventions targeting prevention, education, and support services for affected individuals. The findings not only reflect the immediate safety of children and vulnerable communities in Brazil but also demand greater accountability and reform within legislative and law enforcement frameworks to address the root causes of such crimes effectively.
