GDF sanctions Territorial Ordering Master Plan; understand what changes
The government of the Federal District in Brazil has sanctioned a new Territorial Ordering Master Plan that will guide urban growth and sustainability over the next decade.
On Monday, the government of the Federal District in Brazil sanctioned the new Territorial Ordering Master Plan (Pdot), aimed at organizing the territory and outlining sustainable urban growth for the next ten years. This plan sets forth directives and strategies applicable to urban and rural areas, environmentally sensitive zones, and potential housing locations, representing a significant update since the previous plan, which dates back to 2009. The revision was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted the planned review process in 2019.
The creation of the Pdot was a collaborative effort, involving extensive public participation with 86 public events and contributions from over 12,000 people and organizations, along with input from 30 government agencies. During its review in the Legislative Chamber, the plan received a total of 638 proposed amendments, of which 200 were adopted. This level of engagement underscores the community's commitment to shaping its urban environment and ensuring that local needs and concerns are reflected in the new guidelines.
The Pdot includes several key projects, such as the expansion of the metro system in CeilΓ’ndia and the creation of an inter-neighborhood route designed to connect Samambaia with other areas. These initiatives highlight the plan's focus on improving urban infrastructure, enhancing connectivity between neighborhoods, and promoting sustainable development. The implications of this new plan could profoundly impact the region's future, shaping the urban landscape and addressing pressing needs related to housing and transportation.
