MEN plans changes. It is to be a different school than today

Poland's Minister of Education, Barbara Nowacka, announced plans for an educational reform called 'Compass of Tomorrow' aimed at adapting the school system to the challenges of the 21st century.

During a meeting with teachers in Nowy Dwór Gdański, Polish Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka introduced significant changes intended for the education system, encapsulated in the reform initiative dubbed 'Compass of Tomorrow', developed by the Ministry of National Education. This reform is envisioned to respond to the contemporary demands of education and equip students with skills necessary for their future.

In a press conference held before the meeting, Minister Nowacka emphasized that Polish schools require a transformation to meet the challenges of the 21st century, highlighting the importance of creating an educational environment that not only imparts knowledge but also prepares young individuals for adult life. She criticized the current focus on theoretical knowledge and good grades, advocating instead for a curriculum that emphasizes practical skills and competencies essential for future success.

The reform stems from research conducted by the Educational Research Institute which pointed out that traditional educational measures are no longer sufficient. Nowacka pinpointed that one of the crucial competencies for the future is empowerment and the capability of young people to navigate their lives effectively. This shift indicates a broader trend in educational policy aimed at fostering adaptability and resilience among students, aligning Poland's education system more closely with international standards and job market requirements.
