Car crosses the railway line and is dragged by a train on the coast of SP; VIDEO

A car was dragged by a train in Guarujá, São Paulo, after the driver ignored signals to stop before crossing the railway.

A serious incident occurred in Vicente de Carvalho, Guarujá, São Paulo, where a car was struck by a train after the driver failed to heed the warning signals at a railway crossing. According to the concessionaire MRS, responsible for the railway segment, the driver ignored the stop signs and signals, which could have endangered other individuals nearby. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the accident, which transpired on the evening of Sunday (22).

The MRS emphasized that the car did not stop at the level crossing, directly violating the Brazilian Traffic Code (Article 212), which categorizes this as a serious infringement. The driver incurs a penalty of 7 points on their driving license and a fine of R$ 293.47. Such disregard for traffic laws not only poses risks to drivers but also endangers pedestrians and nearby witnesses, highlighting the importance of complying with railway crossing regulations.

Furthermore, the company Rumo, which operated the train, confirmed that the train's conductor implemented safety measures, including using the horn and emergency brakes. However, due to the train's significant weight, it was unable to stop in time, reiterating the dangers associated with neglecting railway signals. This incident serves as a reminder for all road users to prioritize safety and adhere to established traffic regulations, particularly when approaching level crossings.
