The National Institute of Meteorology has issued alerts for heavy rains and strong winds affecting numerous municipalities in Piauí until Friday.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued two warnings regarding heavy rainfall across various municipalities in Piauí, valid until Friday, the 27th. The alerts indicate a risk of flooding, falling tree branches, electrical discharges, and interruptions in power supply across different regions of the state. The orange alert, classified as a danger level, began on Monday, the 23rd, and is expected to last until 11:59 PM on Friday, encompassing 129 municipalities in total.
The forecast suggests intense rainfall ranging between 30 to 60 millimeters per hour, with potential total precipitation reaching up to 100 millimeters per day. Strong winds are also anticipated, ranging from 60 to 100 km/h. The areas most impacted are located in the Southeast and South regions of Piauí, affecting municipalities including Picos, Floriano, São Raimundo Nonato, Bom Jesus, and Oeiras. Additionally, Inmet has issued a second alert classified as a potential risk, which began on Sunday, the 22nd, and is also set to continue until 11:59 PM on Friday.
