The Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona has reached its highest point of 172.5 meters with the installation of a cross atop the central tower dedicated to Jesus Christ.

The Sagrada Familia, one of the most famous churches globally, has achieved a significant milestone as it reaches its peak height of 172.5 meters with the installation of the upper arm of the cross on the central tower. This tower, dedicated to Jesus Christ, is the central one of the 18 towers of the basilica and is constructed in 12 levels, having started 85 meters above the ground. The final piece was installed on February 20, 2026, with both the Catalan and Vatican flags waving at the top, indicating a celebration of this architectural achievement.

Construction of the Sagrada Familia began on October 16, 2018, and features towers dedicated to the four evangelists, connected by bridges to the central tower. The central tower of Jesus Christ is surrounded by the towers of the 12 Apostles, each designed to represent different biblical figures and stories.
