A tragic bus accident occurred in Nepal early on Monday, where a fully-loaded bus heading from the tourist city of Pokhara to the capital, Kathmandu, skidded off the Prithvi highway. The vehicle plummeted down a slope and ended in the Trishuli river near Benighat, approximately 80 kilometers west of Kathmandu. In total, 19 people lost their lives, with officials confirming that among the deceased was a 24-year-old British man. Only nine bodies have been identified so far, leaving the identification of other victims ongoing.

In addition to the fatalities, there were around 25 injured passengers, one of whom is a Chinese national currently receiving treatment at the National Trauma Center in Kathmandu. Reports indicate that a second Chinese national is missing as a result of the accident. Local authorities and rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene to aid in rescue operations and help the victims. The incident highlights the dangers of traveling on Nepal's mountainous roads, where such accidents can occur due to the challenging conditions.
