Cyclist who got lost on a trail sent audio to wife informing he would be late for barbecue: 'I'm still in the woods'

A 62-year-old man from Morungaba, Brazil, sent an audio message to his wife notifying her that he was lost on a bike trail but was safe and would be late for a family barbecue.

Eduardo Junqueira, a 62-year-old commercial representative, found himself lost while biking on a trail in Morungaba, São Paulo. Fortunately, after establishing internet connectivity, he was able to send a voice message to his worried wife to update her about the situation. He reassured her that he was all right but would be late for the family barbecue due to his misadventure in the woods.

In his message, Junqueira informed his wife that he had veered off course and entered an unfamiliar trail, which resulted in being lost from his group. He mentioned that he was waiting for a local resident from Sousas who was coming to rescue him due to dense vegetation making it difficult for him to navigate. Despite the precarious situation, he expressed calmness and assured her that he had not sustained any injuries and was keeping everything under control.

The incident highlights the importance of safety measures while biking in unfamiliar areas, particularly in regions with challenging trails. Even though Junqueira managed to communicate and stay safe, such experiences can serve as reminders for outdoor enthusiasts to plan ahead, familiarize themselves with their routes, and carry appropriate gear to handle unexpected situations while enjoying nature.
