Prepare for traffic problems on E4 – new roadworks are starting
Upcoming roadworks near Gränna are expected to cause significant traffic delays as lane restrictions will be in place.
The Swedish Transport Administration is commencing necessary renovations on Röttlebron south of Gränna, which will also coincide with additional works north of Huskvarna, including the installation of reinforced railings and new asphalt. This project is set to start just after Easter, following similar renovations that took place in the opposite direction the previous year. The expectation is to allow enough time after the motor show before initiating the roadworks.
During the renovation process, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction, which had previously led to significant traffic congestion, with kilometer-long queues reported. Last year, drivers faced waits of over an hour in some instances, accompanied by multiple accidents due to the constrained traffic flow. This indicates the potential seriousness of the upcoming roadworks and the significant impact it may have on daily commutes.
The bridge work on Röttlebron is planned to be completed by September, while the other associated improvements are anticipated to finish by early July. This timeline suggests a prolonged inconvenience for drivers in the region, emphasizing the need for motorists to plan their travel accordingly and stay updated on the progress of the works.
