"Frozen Agreement". The EU united on tariffs. Request to the US to respect the agreements
The EU is reassessing its trade agreement with the US due to new tariffs proposed by President Trump, urging the US to adhere to previous agreements.
The recent tariff hike proposed by President Trump, which was declared illegitimate by the Supreme Court, has prompted the European Union to reevaluate its commercial strategies. Initially set at 10%, the new tariffs increased to 15%, thereby urging the EU to demonstrate unity. According to Jamieson Greer, the US representative and tariff negotiator, all existing trade agreements remain in effect; this includes pacts with the Old Continent and China. However, given the uncertainty surrounding American policies, Brussels is considering pausing the US-EU agreement as the terms of the Turnberry Agreement, reached on July 27, have changed significantly since its inception.
