Indian Army: We killed 3 militants in clashes in Kashmir

The Indian Army reported the killing of three militants during an armed clash in Kashmir, following a military operation based on credible intelligence.

On Sunday, the Indian Army announced that it had killed three individuals described as militants during an armed clash in the Indian-administered region of Kashmir. The military operation took place in the Kishtwar area, where forces acted on reliable intelligence indicating the presence of militants. During the clash, security forces also confiscated weapons found at the encounter site, according to a statement reported by the French Press Agency.

This incident marks the second such military operation in Kashmir this month, as a similar operation earlier led to the death of three militants. The ongoing violence and military actions underscore the continuing unrest in the Kashmir region, where India has consistently accused Pakistan of training and arming militant groups that seek either independence for Kashmir or its integration into Pakistan—allegations that Islamabad staunchly denies.

The tensions in Kashmir escalated in the previous year when a deadly attack in the Pahalgam tourist area resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, predominantly Hindus. This incident led to heightened clashes between Indian and Pakistani forces, with India blaming Pakistan for the attack, a claim that Pakistan has refuted. Such incidents contribute to the already volatile situation, as both nations vie for control and influence in the disputed region of Kashmir, prompting international concern over potential escalation in hostilities.
