Trains and airplanes, new strikes are coming. The dates of the stoppages
Several strikes affecting air and rail transport in Italy are scheduled to occur at the end of February.
In late February, Italy will experience a new wave of strikes impacting air and rail transport services across the country. The first major strike is set for Thursday, February 26, where workers from the aviation sector, including employees from Ita Airways, easyJet, and Vueling, will participate. Flight cancellations are expected, and details are available on the Ita Airways website for travelers to stay informed.
Following the aviation strike, from February 27 to 28, a national strike will involve railway personnel, including those working with the Italian State Railways (Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane) and Italo, as well as Trenord staff. The strike will commence at 9 PM on February 27 and continue for 24 hours, emphasizing the disruption to both regional and long-distance rail services. Trenitalia has also communicated which long-distance trains will operate during the strike, while essential services for regional transport are set to be maintained during specified hours on weekdays.
These strikes reflect ongoing labor disputes in Italy's transport sectors, highlighting workers' demands for better conditions amid economic challenges. As travel disruptions loom, both air and rail companies are urged to ensure that passengers are informed about service changes, stressing the importance of guidelines during strike periods as travelers navigate travel plans in the face of these disruptions.
