Noh Si-hwan signs contract with Hanwha worth up to 1.03 billion USD for a maximum of 11 years
Noh Si-hwan has signed a record 11-year contract worth 307 million USD with Hanwha Eagles, making him the highest-paid player in KBO history.
The Hanwha Eagles have made headlines by announcing the signing of star player Noh Si-hwan for an unprecedented 11-year contract totaling 307 billion KRW (approximately 1.03 billion USD). This deal, starting from the 2027 season to 2037, is the longest and largest in Korea's professional baseball league, surpassing the previous record of eight years held by notable players such as Ryu Hyun-jin. Noh's average annual salary of around 27.9 billion KRW also sets a new benchmark, although it does not reach the heights of other players’ contracts like Kim Kwang-hyun.
Noh Si-hwan, who debuted in 2019 and quickly became a key player for the Eagles, is recognized as one of the league's top hitters. After an impressive performance in previous seasons, including hitting over 30 home runs and driving in over 100 RBIs in multiple seasons, he has solidified his reputation as a premier slugger in the KBO. With a total of 124 career home runs, Noh is among the limited cohort of players in their 20s with substantial home run records, alongside his teammate Kwang-bok Kang.
The contract also includes clauses allowing Noh the option to enter the Major League Baseball (MLB) through posting after the 2026 season, emphasizing the Eagles’ recognition of his potential and significance as a franchise player. The management further highlighted that this long-term commitment reflects Noh's development from a rookie to a franchise star and acknowledges both his past achievements and future potential in the sport.
