On Sunday, four young hikers were rescued after getting lost while descending Pico Jurapê, located in Joinville, Northern Santa Catarina. The group had climbed the peak on Saturday and spent the night at the summit; however, upon starting their descent the next morning, they lost their way and called for assistance from emergency services. Fortunately, despite the frightening experience, no one was hurt.
The rescue operation was coordinated by the Mountain Rescue Group (GRM), which specializes in difficult-access areas. After the group contacted emergency services via the emergency number 193, the local Fire Brigade quickly dispatched three teams to the mountain. The hikers were located around 1:30 PM, visibly shaken but safe, and were escorted down the mountain by one of the rescue teams while another team provided additional support by climbing up.
