In the first Sunday match of the 23rd round of the SuperSport HNL, Dinamo Zagreb achieved a decisive 4-0 win against Varaždin, solidifying their lead in the league standings. The match remained scoreless at half-time, but Dinamo broke the deadlock early in the second half, scoring three goals in just a short span. Gabriel Vidović inadvertently opened the scoring in the 51st minute when his shot deflected off Varaždin's Miha Zajc and into the net. Two minutes later, Zajc redeemed himself by scoring to make it 2-0 for Dinamo.
Dinamo's momentum continued to build as they scored their third goal just six minutes later in the 57th minute, courtesy of Monsef Bakrar. The match's final score was set at 4-0 when Marko Soldo found the net in the 88th minute. The match began energetically, with Varaždin initially appearing the better side, as they created the first significant chance with Mamut's shot being saved by Dinamo's goalkeeper Dominik Livaković, while Vuk followed up with a miss.
