On Sunday, U.S. Secret Service agents fatally shot a man who reportedly attempted to breach the premises of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. At the time of the incident, Trump and his wife Melania were not at the resort, as they were in Washington, D.C. According to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, the confrontation occurred when two Secret Service agents and a deputy sheriff faced the suspect, who refused to lower his weapon.

The suspect, a man in his early twenties from North Carolina, had been reported missing by his family days before the incident. Investigators believe that he had traveled south from North Carolina and acquired a weapon along the way, with a gun box found in his vehicle.
