"Believe in Yourself!" Ukrainians and Their Supporters Commemorate the Anniversary of the Russian War in Washington
Ukrainians and their supporters gathered in Washington, D.C. to mark the anniversary of the war with Russia, emphasizing Ukraine's alliance with the U.S. and condemning Russian aggression.
In Washington, D.C., under the Lincoln Memorial, hundreds of flags were on display, with numerous posters reminding America that Ukraine is not a foreign entity but an ally, while condemning Russia's acts of aggression and genocide. The event featured speeches filled with messages of encouragement and insights into the current situation in Ukraine.
Jovita Neliupšiene, the European Union's Ambassador to the U.S., highlighted that this winter could be used as a weapon not only by nature but by Russia's aerial bombardments targeting not just military facilities but also schools, energy infrastructure, and buses. This pattern continues even amid calls for Russia to cease its attacks, illustrating the gravity and challenges facing Ukraine.
Among the supporters were Baltic nationals, who have consistently shown up to back Ukraine in Washington. The Latvian community, represented there for the fourth consecutive year, expressed hope that their support would only be needed once, but they remain committed to standing with Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
