- It’s the "shitty sessions" in the gym that matter
Vilde Hulaas Grøseth reflects on her challenges with a long-term injury as a teenager and her journey back to competitive football.
Vilde Hulaas Grøseth recalls the difficulties she faced as a 15-year-old athlete dealing with a significant knee injury amid the pandemic's restrictions on contact sports. The injury occurred in 2020 when she played soccer and caught her foot in the grass during a maneuver, an incident she describes as shocking since she had never encountered a cruciate ligament injury before. Despite this setback, she was awarded Ivers Talent Prize later that year for her talent and potential, even though her injury prevented her from participating in any national team gatherings at that time.
After recovering, Grøseth joined Rosenborg BK in 2022 and made her debut in Norway's top league, Toppserien, shortly thereafter. Her commitment to returning to form was evident as she continued to persevere against daunting odds. She reflects on how the rigorous training sessions, which she jokingly refers to as "shitty sessions," are crucial in enhancing her performance and preparing her physically and mentally for the competitions ahead.
As the 2024 season approaches, Grøseth is keen to contribute significantly to her team's efforts and improve her skills on the field. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and enjoying the game, which she believes is essential for success and resilience in competitive sports.
