Education in Bavaria: Demand for School Assistants is Growing Rapidly

In Bavaria, the traditional classroom setup of a single teacher managing around 25 students is becoming increasingly obsolete. Current educational realities reveal that many teachers are now relying on school assistants to support individual children who struggle with academic demands. From 2018 to 2024, the number of registered school assistant cases for children with disabilities such as ADHD, concentration issues, and aggression has more than doubled. Just eight years ago, there were approximately 2,755 registered cases in Bavaria; in contrast, the Ministry reported a staggering 6,842 cases just two years ago. This sharp increase underscores a growing acknowledgment of the diverse needs within the student population and highlights the need for tailored educational support.
