To mark this significant milestone, archivist Barbara Blankenburg has curated a series of seven lectures focusing on crucial themes in the town's history. This selection reflects the area's rich heritage, which dates back to the Neolithic and Bronze Ages. However, it was not until 1326 that Dießen was officially designated as a market town by King Ludwig the Bavarian, marking an important turning point in its historical timeline.

The first lecture in this series, titled "Even a King Needs Allies – Ludwig the Bavarian and Dießen in Turbulent Times," is presented by Professor Martin Kaufhold from the University of Augsburg. The talk promises to delve into Ludwig's reign, particularly his struggles against various opponents and the powers he conferred upon Dießen during a time of political turbulence. This lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, at the Blauen Haus and will start at 7 PM, setting the stage for an insightful exploration of local history and monarchic authority.
