In preparation for the Winter Olympics in Italy, Alpine volunteers have dedicated significant time and effort to ensure the success of the event. They have been involved in a wide range of tasks, including shoveling snow, managing parking access at the Olympic village and competition venues, as well as providing services on the racing tracks and assisting fans with directions and information. This "silent army" of volunteers has made substantial contributions to the event alongside their counterparts from Milano-Cortina, all under the unifying slogan of "Always Present" from the National Alpine Association (ANA). The involvement of these volunteers showcases a remarkable spirit of community and commitment, with individuals of all ages coming together to support the Olympic Games. Many volunteers have traveled from various regions across Italy, some being former alpini (Alpine troops), family members, and even civilians who had connected with the association through the Internet. Everyone shared a common enthusiasm and eagerness to contribute, demonstrating a willingness to leave their everyday lives behind, including family and personal responsibilities, to assist in the Games' preparation. Among those volunteering is Elisabetta, the daughter of an alpino, who represents the Vallenora Alpine Group from the province of Pe. This blend of new volunteers and seasoned veterans reflects the diverse nature of support that the Alpine volunteers bring, ensuring that the Winter Olympics are not only successful but also a memorable experience for all involved. Their collective efforts are pivotal in showcasing the strength of volunteerism in the community and underline the vital role these groups play in significant national events such as the Olympics.
