Mass Recall Hits Nissan: Engine Issues in 2023β2025 Models
Nissan is recalling approximately 642,000 vehicles in the United States due to engine problems affecting its 2023β2025 Rogue models.
Nissan has announced a significant recall affecting around 642,000 vehicles, specifically the 2023 to 2025 Rogue models, due to engine issues related to the 1.5-liter three-cylinder variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engine. According to notices from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall is divided into two separate issues, with the first affecting 323,917 vehicles over concerns about engine oil overheating, which could degrade lubrication properties and damage internal bearings.
The documents reveal that under certain conditions, elevated oil temperatures could result in inadequate lubrication of internal parts, potentially leading to bearing wear or failure. In severe cases, this could cause engine failure while driving, posing a risk of significant damage. While Nissan has recorded hundreds of warranty claims related to the issue, they have reported no incidents of injuries connected to the problem so far.
In response to this concern, Nissan will instruct dealers to reprogram the engine control module (ECM) and inspect the vehicles for trouble codes, which may also involve checking the oil pan for signs of damage. This recall highlights the importance of vehicle safety in maintaining consumer trust, especially for models that represent significant sales volumes for the manufacturer.
