UGC Identifies These 32 Universities as Fake, Are You Taking Admissions? See the List
The UGC has declared 32 universities in India as fake, warning students against enrolling in them as their degrees will not be valid for jobs or further education.
A recent revelation by the University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified 32 institutions across India as fake universities. The UGC has explicitly stated that degrees obtained from these institutions will not be recognized for employment or further academic pursuits. Students are advised to verify the accreditation of any college or university before enrolling, as none of these institutions have received validation from either the central or state governments.
Under the UGC Act, only recognized institutions have the right to confer degrees, specifically referencing Section 2(f) and 3, which underlines the legal framework around degree legitimacy. Consequently, any degrees issued by these identified fake universities lack any legal validity. This situation raises significant concerns about the quality of education and the risks students face when applying to unauthorized institutions.
The report indicated that Delhi houses the highest number of these fraudulent universities, totaling 12, with Uttar Pradesh following closely with four such institutions. The list also suggests that other states harbor several unrecognized institutions, posing a potential risk to students' academic and professional futures if they enroll in these disapproved universities.
