Instead of football, the joy of flying. Czech schoolchildren learn to pilot large transport aircraft

Czech schoolchildren are participating in a unique flight training course where they learn to pilot large aircraft using simulators, enhancing their understanding of aviation.

Thirteen-year-old Max and his fifteen-year-old co-pilot Petr are emerging pilots in a simulated environment, navigating a mock flight in an ATR aircraft over Prague airport. This experience is part of the 'Little Pilot' course designed for children, which teaches essential skills like flight planning, navigation, and emergency landing techniques under adverse weather conditions.

In the simulated cockpit, students undergo pre-flight checklists, monitor instruments, and adjust systems, engaging with the intricate processes that real pilots perform. The course uses state-of-the-art simulators certified for pilot training, providing a realistic flying experience without leaving the ground. As the plane takes off smoothly, students can see the iconic Václav Havel Airport and the surrounding areas from their virtual cockpit, making the lesson immersive and memorable.

This initiative not only provides children with practical knowledge about aviation but also inspires interest in the field, potentially paving their future career paths. By introducing young people to the fundamentals of flying, the program aims to inspire the next generation of pilots and aviation professionals, bridging the gap between education and real-world applications in the ever-evolving aviation industry.
