Kyiv announces attacks on Russian ballistic missile factory
Kyiv has confirmed a missile strike on a Russian ballistic missile production facility in Udmurtia, eastern Moscow, as part of its ongoing conflict with Russia.
The Ukrainian General Staff has announced that Kyiv launched a missile strike targeting a Russian ballistic missile production plant located in Udmurtia, approximately 1400 km from Ukraine, specifically in the town of Votkinsk. This factory is known for producing various types of missiles, including the short-range 'Iskander' and the intercontinental 'Topol-M'. The Ukrainian forces reportedly used 'Flamingo' ground-to-ground missiles to carry out this operation.
In addition to the missile strike, Alexander Pechalov, the governor of Udmurtia, reported that the region was attacked overnight by drones. This has occurred against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing use of ballistic missiles to target Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which has led to widespread electricity outages and a lack of heating for millions across Ukraine. The conflict has escalated as both sides continue to exchange military strikes, impacting civilian life and infrastructure.
Politically, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview at the presidential palace, highlighted that Ukraine has regained hundreds of kilometers of territory following military assaults against Russian forces. He expressed determination and resilience in the face of ongoing challenges, reaffirming the commitment to defend Ukrainian sovereignty against Russian aggression. The ongoing military campaigns illustrate the persistence of the conflict with significant implications for regional stability and international relations.
