A young couple, aged 20 and 18, was arrested in Patos de Minas, Brazil, suspected of drug trafficking and mistreatment of their four-month-old baby. The arrest took place on the morning of Friday, with police acting on a tip that directed them to the couple's residence in the Ipanema neighborhood. The couple was approached by the police as they exited their home.

When questioned by the police, the couple presented a bruise on the baby’s face, claiming it was the result of an accident involving a falling aluminum can of cornstarch. Upon inspection, the social workers found that the baby did not exhibit any other signs of injury, and the couple attempted to validate their explanation by showing the can.
