Nigerians should thank Dangote for inspiring refinery, says NNPC chief
The CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company has praised Dangote's leadership in establishing the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, highlighting it as crucial for Nigeria's national pride and energy sector.
Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), expressed gratitude towards Aliko Dangote for his inspirational leadership in establishing the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Speaking to journalists during a historic visit to the refinery, Ojulari emphasized the significance of the refinery as a landmark project that signifies technological prowess and national pride for Nigeria. He underlined the importance of such initiatives in positioning Nigeria as a crucial player within the global energy sector.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, boasting a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is recognized as the largest and most modern refinery in Africa. Ojulari's remarks come during the NNPC's first official tour of the facility, which marks a major milestone in Nigeria's quest for self-sufficiency in fuel production. The NNPC holds a seven percent equity stake in this revolutionary project, reflecting the collaboration between government and private sectors in the country.
Ojulari's commendation of Dangote's vision and commitment to the project sheds light on the potential impacts of the refinery on Nigeria's economy, including reduced dependence on imported fuels and increased employment opportunities. As the nation looks forward to the operationalization of the refinery, it represents not just a feat of engineering but also a stepping stone towards economic transformation, aligning with Nigeria's broader objectives for energy independence and sustainability.
