Suvi Männikkö's second miscarriage lasted 50 days, but she does not give up on her dream of having children
Suvi Männikkö, from Rovaniemi, talks about her struggles with her second miscarriage lasting 50 days and her unwavering hope to become a mother.
Suvi Männikkö, a 25-year-old from Rovaniemi, Finland, recently went through her second miscarriage which lasted for a challenging 50 days. Her desire to become a mother has been a long-standing dream, rejuvenated by marrying her husband Valtteri Männikkö, 32. They both expressed their eagerness to start a family, wanting to have children who would grow up surrounded by their rural lifestyle and contribute to their community, reflecting a deep-rooted aspiration for family life in their hometown.
In 2022, Suvi stopped using hormonal contraception, and in November 2023, she finally received a positive pregnancy test. However, her joy was short-lived as she experienced a miscarriage just a few months later in February of the following year. The experience was emotionally taxing, especially as the couple was handed abortion leaflets at the hospital, indicating a lack of specific guidance for miscarriage situations, which made the ordeal even more difficult to process.
Despite her hardships and the emotional trauma that accompanies such losses, Suvi remains optimistic about her future as a mother. She plans to be present for her child, potentially stepping back from work at their horse farm once they expand their family. Suvi’s story sheds light on the challenges faced by those grappling with similar experiences while also highlighting the strong desire for family that persists through grief and loss.
