Ukrainian Flamingo missiles hit Russian plant making Kinzhal and Oreshnik missiles – Ukraine’s General Staff

Ukrainian forces successfully targeted the Votkinsk plant in Russia, known for manufacturing key missile systems, using Flamingo missiles.

Ukrainian military officials report that their Rocket Forces and Artillery units conducted a successful strike on the Votkinsk plant in the Udmurt Republic of Russia, utilizing FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles. This strike occurred during the night of February 20-21 and targeted a facility crucial for the production of several missile systems, including the Kinzhal and Oreshnik missiles. Although a fire was observed following the strike, the exact impact on the plant's operations is currently unclear.

The Votkinsk plant is significant within the Russian defense industrial complex, as it manufactures not only the Kinzhal and Oreshnik missiles but also RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles, and various other missile systems including 9M723-1 ballistic missiles for the Iskander-M system, and 9-S-7760 missiles for the Kinzhal system. The strategic implications of targeting such a facility potentially weaken Russia's missile development capabilities and indicates Ukraine's increasing capability to hit high-value military targets deep within Russian territory.

In addition to the strike on the Votkinsk plant, Ukrainian forces also conducted attacks on the Neftegorsk gas processing plant in Russia's Samara Oblast, further emphasizing Ukraine’s expanded military operations. These developments underscore the ongoing conflict dynamics and Ukraine's efforts to disrupt Russian military logistics and infrastructure, as well as its ability to carry out coordinated strikes across multiple targets.
