Girl Who Made Friends with Police Horse During Cancer Treatment Adopts Retired Animal

Clara Valentina, a 9-year-old girl from Caldas Novas, adopts a retired police horse, Bizantino, after forming a special bond during her cancer treatment.

Clara Valentina, a nine-year-old girl from Caldas Novas, Goiás, recently adopted a retired horse named Bizantino, a member of the Military Police of São Paulo (PMESP), after they formed a heartfelt friendship during her battle with thyroid cancer. Clara and Bizantino crossed paths in 2022 when Clara was in São Paulo for her treatment, where she was introduced to the horse by his former partner at the police, Sergeant Oliveira. This meeting sparked a unique connection between the young girl and the horse, which her father, Diego Maurício da Conceição, described as 'love at first sight'.

During a visit to the Mounted Police Regiment “9 de Julho” in São Paulo, Clara experienced a moment that would change her life when she was allowed to ride Bizantino, highlighting the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship during her health struggles. As her treatment progressed, the bond with Bizantino provided Clara with joy and hope, making her journey slightly more bearable amid the challenges of her illness. The charity of the police force allowed the retired horse to be adopted by Clara, ensuring that their friendship would continue beyond the hospital.

This adoption not only brings joy to Clara and her family but also serves as a touching reminder of the positive impact animals can have on healing and emotional well-being. As Clara embraces this new chapter with Bizantino, their story of friendship and resilience captures the spirit of overcoming adversity, showcasing how love and companionship can flourish in the most unexpected circumstances.
