Norwegian Olympic Record – 40 Medals in Italy
Norway set a new Olympic record by winning 40 medals, including a historic triple victory in the men's 50km cross-country skiing event.
Norway has achieved a remarkable feat at the Winter Olympics, setting a new record by claiming 40 medals in a single championship. This milestone surpasses the previous record of 39 medals from the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. The highlight of the competition was the men's cross-country skiing team's triple victory in the 50km event, which played a crucial role in Norway’s medal tally.
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo led the way for Norway, securing an impressive sixth gold medal from six events in this year's Olympics held in Italy. He was supported by teammates Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget and Emil Iversen, who contributed to the podium finish, taking silver and bronze respectively. The dominant performance of the Norwegian athletes not only reflects their skill but also their strong preparation leading up to the games.
Prior to the Olympics, Olympiatoppen, Norway's elite sports organization, had set an ambitious target of 35 medals for the games in Milan and Cortina, which they achieved early on in the competition, showcasing the depth and talent of Norwegian athletes across various winter sports. This achievement highlights the country's enduring prowess in the Winter Olympics and sets a new benchmark for future competitions.
