Russia's Defense Industrial City Hit by Ukrainian Drone; Claims of 'Missile Factory Attack'
On the 21st, a drone attack from Ukraine caused human and material damage in the Udmurt Republic, Russia.
On the 21st of the local time, the Udmurt Republic in Russia's Ural region experienced a drone attack from Ukraine causing both human and material damage. Alexander Brechalov, the head of the Udmurt Republic, reported via Telegram that one facility within the republic was targeted by the drone strike from the Kyiv regime, resulting in damage to property and casualties. According to Sergei Bagin, the health minister of Udmurtia, at least 11 people were injured, with three requiring hospitalization.
Although authorities have not disclosed detailed information regarding the location of the attack, it is speculated that a weapon production facility may have been hit, given Udmurt Republic's developed defense industry. Foreign media sources report that the attack possibly targeted a key arms factory located about 50 kilometers northeast of Izhevsk, the capital of Udmurtia, in Botkinsk. Ukrainian military blogs have also claimed that the Ukrainian forces attacked a missile manufacturing plant in Botkinsk, which is reported to produce essential Russian missiles such as Iskander, Oreshenik, and Topol-M.
Some Ukrainian outlets have suggested, without verification, that the strike might have used a Kh-35 cruise missile instead of a drone. Analysts interpret this attack as a demonstration of Ukraine's ability to strike deep into Russian territory, further complicating the already stalled peace negotiations mediated by the United States as the fourth anniversary of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine approaches on the 24th.
