On Sunday, an ice glaze is still threatening in the Czech Republic. Then it will warm up and river levels will rise
On Sunday, parts of the Czech Republic are at risk of ice glaze, particularly in the Olomouc region, as temperatures fluctuate and rain follows a warm spell, potentially causing rising river levels.
On Sunday, parts of the Czech Republic, especially the Olomouc region, are under an ice glaze warning issued by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. Temperatures will range from zero to four degrees Celsius overnight across much of the country; however, in Moravia, they might drop to as low as minus two degrees. This drop in temperature, combined with expected rain, increases the risk of creating ice glaze, particularly in specified areas where caution is advised for motorists and pedestrians alike.
As the day progresses, meteorologists anticipate freezing rain in northwest and central Moravia, which can contribute to ice formation. The warning for ice glaze is active in most of Olomouc, as well as parts of Pardubice and Moravian-Silesian regions, and is in effect from 06:00 to 15:00 on Sunday. As temperatures gradually rise later in the day, the area at risk will diminish, but localised ice glaze conditions may still persist into the afternoon.
Authorities emphasize the importance of caution in these conditions. With the risk of falling temperatures leading to ice glaze and potential flooding from melting snow and rain, it is crucial that residents remain aware of the weather forecast and prepare for potentially hazardous travel along roads and pathways throughout the affected regions.
