APC is not a party of saints, but better than PDP — Keyamo
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation, acknowledges that while the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not perfect, it is a better option than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a recent statement, Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, expressed his view that the All Progressives Congress (APC), although not free from faults, offers a better political alternative compared to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Keyamo addressed his remarks in a video posted on his verified social media account, emphasizing that his previous comments about the party were misinterpreted. He referred to an interview he gave in 2017 where he pointed out that claiming any political party, including the APC, as flawless is unrealistic.
Keyamo clarified that while he wouldn’t label the APC as a party of saints, he firmly believes that it serves as a more favorable option than the PDP, which has previously ruled the country. He reiterated that the pursuit of perfection within political parties is naive, declaring that admitting to flaws in political organizations doesn’t undermine their potential effectiveness. His statement comes amidst ongoing political rivalry and scrutiny within Nigeria’s political landscape.
The minister's comments highlight the realistic view that political parties often grapple with various shortcomings, yet the emphasis lies in choosing a party that aligns better with the country's goals. The discourse raises important reflections on party politics in Nigeria, suggesting that while the APC may not be ideal, it is perceived as making progress compared to its predecessor, the PDP, in the eyes of many supporters.
