Bashar Bahbah, the head of Americans for Peace, expressed his reservations about former British Prime Minister Tony Blair's statements regarding Gaza's future. Blair suggested that Israel would assess the new police force in Gaza to ensure proper governance. Bahbah argues that Blair's political background, particularly his involvement in the destruction of Iraq, renders him an unreliable figure in both Arab and international contexts.

Bahbah continued by stating that Israel would remain practically in control of Gaza and noted that the Council for Peace is forced to abide by Israeli statements and policies, influenced by American power that allows Israel to act as the "major emperor" in the Middle East. This ongoing dominance complicates any attempts at establishing effective governance in Gaza as dictated by outside forces.

Concerning the role of the Council for Peace, Bahbah mentioned that its publicly stated goal is to reconstruct Gaza, which faces significant shortages in housing, food, and clothing. However, he warned that any efforts to deploy an international stabilizing force would be ineffective as long as Israel retains its security control, underscoring the need for a technocratic committee to engage with the Palestinian Authority as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
