Univás Medical Project Raises Awareness for the Importance of Organ Donation
A medical project by Univás students seeks to raise awareness about the significance of organ donation through various activities and community engagement.
Students from the 4th year of the Medicine course at Univás are actively participating in a curricular project aimed at raising awareness about the importance of organ donation. Recently, they engaged in an outreach activity at the Samuel Libânio Oncology Hospital, where they interacted with patients and their families to discuss and educate them on organ donation.
One of the students, Anne Schnaider Azevedo, mentioned that the initiative was inspired by witnessing a recent heart transplant at the Complexo Hospitalar Samuel Libânio. This motivated the group to focus on organ donation and highlight its critical role in saving lives. The students have also developed a questionnaire aimed at addressing common concerns and misconceptions regarding organ donation, emphasizing that family support is crucial in the decision-making process.
The project is part of a broader effort to encourage the community to consider organ donation as a vital act of generosity that can have profound impacts on many lives. By increasing public awareness and understanding of organ donation, the students hope to increase the number of registered donors and ultimately contribute to saving more lives in their region.
