Tallinn University of Technology has announced the opening of a drone academy this fall at its Mustamäe campus in Tallinn, Estonia. The new facility will cover an area of 1500 square meters and will include a robotics construction laboratory, simulation lab, drone arena, and a mobile robotics center. This initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate practical technology training into the curriculum, with expectations for around 6000 students to utilize the resources of the college.

The academy's director, Ott Pärna, emphasized the importance of drone technology across multiple sectors, including construction, media, agriculture, and logistics. He envisions that all students at the college should receive foundational training in drone operations, which includes skills in building, repairing, programming, and piloting drones. This comprehensive approach aims to prepare students for the growing demands of the job market where drones are becoming increasingly relevant.
