Dujarric: About 5,000 Palestinians displaced due to settler attacks in the West Bank

Stefan Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, reported that around 5,000 Palestinians have been displaced due to attacks by settlers in the West Bank.

Stefan Dujarric, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, announced that roughly 880 Palestinian families, totaling more than 4,700 individuals, have been displaced by settler violence in the West Bank. He warned that continued violence and coercive practices by Israeli forces and settlers have led to casualties, property destruction, and forced displacement in the region. The humanitarian situation remains dire as the cycle of violence continues.

From February 3rd to 6th, Israeli forces reportedly killed three Palestinians, bringing the total death toll for the year to nine, including two children. During this same period, at least 86 attacks by Israeli settlers were recorded, resulting in injuries to over 60 Palestinians and further displacement of approximately 146 individuals. The ongoing violence reflects deep-rooted issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, exacerbating an already challenging humanitarian situation for the Palestinian population.

The Secretary-General condemned the killing of 19-year-old Nasrallah Abu Sayyam, a Palestinian-American who died during a settler attack in the occupied West Bank. Additionally, Dujarric highlighted that during this attack, three other Palestinians were shot and injured, underscoring the precarious security situation for Palestinians in the West Bank amidst increased settler aggression and military presence.
