Kebbi pledges stronger security after border attacks

The Kebbi State Government has pledged to enhance security in vulnerable border communities following recent attacks.

In response to deadly attacks in the Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, the state government has reassured residents of its commitment to improving security in vulnerable border communities. Deputy Governor Alhaji Abubakar Umar Tafida expressed this commitment during condolence visits to families affected by the violence. The attacks, which occurred near the Nigeria–Niger border, have raised significant safety concerns among residents in the area, prompting the government to take immediate action.

During his visits, Tafida emphasized the state's collaboration with the Federal Government and security agencies in implementing a robust security strategy aimed at preventing further incursions by armed bandits. This includes increasing vigilance and coordination among all stakeholders in the security sector. He assured the grieving families that the government acknowledges the precarious situation they are facing and is working diligently to restore safety in the region.

The commitment to improving security comes at a time when border communities like Mamuni, Awashaka, Kurin-Naida, Tungar Tsoho, Danmairago, and Makargara have been particularly vulnerable to violent attacks. The government’s proactive stance reflects a recognition of the urgent need to address the threats posed by banditry in the area, highlighting the importance of local and federal collaboration in tackling such security challenges effectively.
