With low sales, Tesla launches a cheaper version of the Cybertruck
Tesla has announced a cheaper version of the Cybertruck priced at $59,990, reducing the price from its previous lowest model and also lowering the price of its top-tier model.
Tesla has introduced a new, lower-priced version of its Cybertruck aimed at stimulating sales amid declining demand for electric vehicles. The new pricing for the Cybertruck starts at $59,990, down from $79,990 for the previous entry model, while the top model, known as the 'Cyberbeast', has had its price cut from $114,990 to $99,990. This change comes as the company faces tough market conditions, particularly with a notable decline in electric vehicle sales in the U.S. and China.
According to market analysis by BMI, global sales of electric and hybrid vehicles fell by 3% year-over-year in January, with a significant drop of 33% reported in North America. This downturn represents the worst performance in electric vehicle registrations in the United States since 2022. Conversely, markets in Europe and elsewhere have experienced growth in sales, signaling a shift in electric vehicle demand across different regions.
Tesla's decision to lower prices is likely a strategic response to increased competition and the impact of U.S. policy changes that have removed tax incentives for electric vehicles. While Tesla currently does not have an official operation in Brazil, importing the Cybertruck independently is already being explored by consumers, with costs estimated around R$ 1 million. The adjustments in pricing may position Tesla more competitively in a challenging market.
