The Civil Police of Brazil is investigating the death of a 1 year and 3 months old baby girl in Maricá, located in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro. Reports indicate that the child was brought to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Inoã without vital signs and displaying signs of violence. According to her mother, the child had been at the home of a babysitter when she became ill, leading to an emergency response that unfortunately arrived too late.

Investigators from the Homicide Division of Niterói and São Gonçalo are currently conducting inquiries to identify the details surrounding the child’s death. Interviews are taking place with the babysitter and others present in the house at the time to gather any potential eyewitness accounts or relevant information. The tragic nature of this incident raises serious concerns about child safety and care in home environments, especially regarding potential abuse or neglect.

The baby’s body has been sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
