35 Agendas Finalized, International Airport to be Built in Sonpur... Big Decision by Nitish's Cabinet

The Bihar government has approved plans for an international airport in Sonpur following a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

In a significant cabinet meeting held in Patna under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's leadership, the Bihar government finalized 35 agendas, with the most noteworthy decision being the construction of an international airport in Sonpur. The cabinet approved a proposal to establish a greenfield airport on 42 acres of land in Sonpur, marking a vital development for the state’s infrastructure and connectivity.

The airport is projected to become operational by 2030, with the central budget already granting its approval. Following this, the state government committed to pay 1,302 crore rupees for land acquisition required for the project, indicating a strong commitment to enhancing Bihar's aviation capabilities. This development is expected to not only boost the local economy but also enhance connectivity and accessibility in the region.

In a related decision during the same week, the Bihar government announced a ban on illegally operated DJ trolleys to address noise pollution, which has been linked to health concerns such as heart attacks. Transport Minister Shravan Kumar stated that strict actions will be taken against violators, reflecting the government’s focus on public health and welfare even as it pushes forward significant infrastructure projects, such as the Sonpur airport.
